I just watched Steven Curtis Chapman and his family last night on Larry King. They were there to speak about their journey of faith through the tragic loss of their little girl Maria. Maria was killed at the end of May when she was running to meet her brother who was pulling into the driveway. He did not see her and she was struck by the car and killed.
When this first happened, as a father or two myself, I was so shaken by it all. If something like this happened to one of my kids, hide the guns and sleeping pills. I know God can substain me through anything but I don’t know if I would give him the chance or not. If someone wants to judge that statement, go ahead.
Anyways, watching last night I saw a family who modeled what I hope to be. A christian who is real in my struggles as well as my faith. I hope to live out loud with the good and bad and let people see the testimony that God is building in spite of myself. I hope to be the loving support to my wife and children in the toughest of times that I saw in Steven Curtis Chapman last night.
My prayers continue to be with the Chapman family and I have full respect for hearts of faith as they move forward.
