Catalyst Pre-Notes

As mentioned today, the elders head out Tuesday at 10am for Atlanta, Georgia for the Catalyst conference. With a busy travel and conference schedule, we will be out of touch for the most part but that doesn’t mean you can’t stay in the loop. Here’s some information for the Fellowshipers that may be of interest as you keep us in prayer this week.

In the Loop – Pastor Tom will be putting out nuggets of information, quotes from speakers, and highlights through twitter. If you have Facebook and our friends with Pastor Tom, these will come through on his Facebook account as well. So make sure you are linked on Facebook or  you can follow him on Twitter at @tsfGodguy

Prayer/ Fasting – A friend at church came to me today and asked when would be the best time to fast and pray for us while at the conference. What an awesome thing to be asked! If you would like to join him in fasting and praying for us while we go down and seek God on where we He is heading the church next, feel free to do so!

Catalyst Sunday – Next Sunday is the day! God will do what He wants this week at Catalyst but I know He will be doing something! Come Sunday morning to find out what the word is! The message will be formed all week, slapped down on some random pieces of paper somewhere in the back seat on the road between Tennessee and the Ohio border, and babbled out on Sunday morning. Come be part of it!

So don’t be offended if you don’t hear back from us if you email or call. We will do the best we can email wise but I make no promises on phone calls =)

If you have any immediate needs, feel free to touch base with Brent Longstreth or Joe Williams at the church and they can get a hold of us for you. Blessings!

Some of the decisions I’m glad I made this year (some new, some continuing)…

– Staying at The Shepherd’s Fellowship – There were some options that came up earlier this year that would have been more pay and more resources but Jenni and I felt like God was allowing us to stay with our church family and have been amazed at the move of the Spirit in our church family. So glad we stayed =)

– Date night with my wife – Every other Saturday night, a friend stays with Emily while Jenni and I get the night to ourselves. This time together is critical and though it costs a little bit for babysitting, so worth have time together where we can just enjoy each others company.

Warning:  Here comes some random babbling……

Our last elder meeting, I brought Romans 12: 1-8 to our study time for us to dig into. Unlike many who really prepare something to share…. a lot of times, I come across something that I want to experience with the others more than present so I didn’t put a lot of pre-thought into it. I just brought it, we read it, and then started to dig in.

I found I was really captivated by this Scripture in this moment and with this group of leaders in our church. There were some simple truths that I wanted to explore more and I have been thinking about and praying over these verses for two weeks. This blog is an attempt to get some of this down in a purposed manner.
Here’s part of the Scripture…

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to hisfaith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12: 6-8

Baptism Sunday!

The Shepherd’s Fellowship is having Baptism Sunday after church on Sunday, 9/23/12. The purpose of this blog is to educate folks who are looking at baptism this weekend on any details….
First, baptism is an act that follows accepting Jesus as Leader and Forgiver in your life.
If you have not turned your life over to Christ, please see Pastor Tom first so we can discuss the life He is offering you. However, baptism is a reflection of what happens when you accept Christ into your life and should not happen for any other reason.

“Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized” – Acts 2:41

“Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.’” – Matthew 28:19-20

“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were
also raised with Christ.” – Colossians 2:12
