“For every fundamentalist who loves the Bible more than Christ, I’m willing to bet there is one emergent Christian who honors the Bible less than Christ did” from “Why We’re Not Emergent by Two Guys Who Should Be”
As we come to the close of the “Home for the Holidays (even when you are homeless)” study, we come to a truth that is passionate and full of life through three testimonies.
As the lives of Mary, Joseph, Simeon, and Anna converge with a meeting with the Christ child, we see three different paths that reflect the same truth available today to us all.
Week One – We explored taking Christ out of the manger to experience Him for ourselves.
Week Two – We explored taking Christ out of the manger, experiencing Him, and then sharing Him with them world around us.
Now we dive deeper into Mary’s testimony as we look at the dangerous, messy, complex, and merciful full message of Christ coming out of the manger and impacting the world. It’s not quite as “Christmas card” naive as we tend to lean towards all the time. It’s Christ! The loving yet powerful Emmanuel who changes everything!
Join us for the first week of our Christmas series as we explore into the impact of the birth of Jesus on those closest to Him and what it means in our lives. With a focus on Joseph and the birth of Christ, we explore what it looks like to plan in integrity but be willing to move in unseen ways when God calls us.
I am blessed that at The Shepherd’s Fellowship we have several outreaches coming up during the Christmas season. These include efforts like a card ministry to many in need, door to door outreach at a local apartment complex, music and visitation to a local nursing home, Christmas 20/10 (more on this later) and more. However, my favorite outreach is a personal one and I invite you to join me. (more…)
The holidays are upon us and in the midst of carols, cookies, lights and gifts it can be easy to lose sight of the wonderful reason we celebrate this season.
The Promise Foretold
Jesus’ birth, foretold hundreds of years before his arrival, was the fulfillment of a promise spoken to the Jewish people who were awaiting freedom from an oppressive government. But the world got more than they ever hoped for. Jesus came, not to bring peace between people, but rather to bring a much more significant peace: peace between God and humanity. Follow this amazing story as it unfolds before your eyes.
Hi, I'm Tom and this is my web-site. Sometimes, within ministry, it seems there are only two options.....to be a believer of the Scripture and be seen as being self righteous, judgmental, and hyprocritical or believe you have to water down the Bible to being loving, merciful, and full of grace. Well, I fall in the middle of all that...I am an emerging conservative. I am in love with the community and relational spirituality as seen in the Bible and the ministry of Jesus Christ and believe we can have it here today! Join in on the conversation, won't you?
