While we may quote the phrase “Sticks and stone may break my bones, words will never hurt me” as kids, we know that’s not true in real life. Words have power to build people up and the power to tear others down. They have the grace that can lead others to the Lord and the evil that can crush others when they are seeking love.

As we continue our study through the letter of James, he has strong teaching when it comes to our words, accountability, and the key to finding freedom when it comes to our speech.

A common question that many people have is simply “How do I study the Bible?” If we are honest, this can be a real struggle for many people. Some people find sections to be hard to understand. Some people find they can read an entire chapter and not remember hardly of it by the time they close the book. Some people see reading the Bible as a chore and often lose the passion to dig in.

At The Shepherd’s Fellowship, we are entering into a study season with the Bible that will follow a mindset that may easily help you if you struggle in this area. While there are different study methods, there is one that has really opened up the Word for many and we hope it will for you as well!

Dear Friend of the Nook,

After two years of financial struggling with less community support and higher costs of moving to our new location…. and with a great deal of prayer….. we have been led to close The Shepherd’s Nook. We wish to thank all for their support of our ministry over the last 8 years.

For your immediate needs, please contact the Living Word bookstore in Edison at 419-946-5000. They are just 15 minutes from our store on State Route 95 in the Edison Depot building.

Long term, we are working with a local person who is hoping to open a new Christian bookstore in Marion soon. When this happens, please support them in your prayers and with your spending dollars. Invest in the Kingdom and not just where you can save a dollar.

Again, we thank you for standing by us and ask you continue to keep us in prayer as we focus more on our church ministry. If we can pray for you, please contact us at prayer@theshepherdsfellowship.org.

We had a period of 30 days of prayer and fasting in our church to prepare and humble ourselves in preperation for the trip and what God might lay before us. We opened up a fund raiser to get the cash together and everyone chipped in. The only thing left was to go.

To the Friends of The Shepherd’s Nook,

At this time, we feel it is important to communicate with our customers our reality and hope to continue to have your support.

You need to be aware that now, more than ever, we need you. After making several large moves to answer the call of our customers; including moving the store to a more convenient and more costly location, we are a critical place financially. Without a change in customer support, we are very close to financial failure and closing the doors.
