When Jesus was speaking about John the Baptist, He said “I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John.” (Luke 7:28)

What made John the Baptist so special? Is it simply some extra blessing that God put upon on Him or is it a life that you and I can choose ourselves today? Could it be possible that his choices and outlook are something we can adopt that can lead us to a greater way of living full of purpose and passion?

As we enter week two of our study in the gospel of John, we explore these questions as well as learn more about Jesus Himself …. the LIGHT and LIFE we desire.

Did you ever wish that God would just send you a letter addressing your deepest concerns and fears? Did you ever think it would be nice if He just penned you thoughts of what to do next to be able to live a life with a mission that’s more than just getting through the day?

In this study, we will be exploring some letters written doing just that from the book of Revelation! What we often times look at as something scary or just about the future has a lot to say about our here and now. We pray you will be part of this time with us as we explore truths that are right in front of us that we can grasp, adopt, and live that take this life beyond the daily grind.

Thou Shalt Not…

I was watching some church TV when I was flipping through channels last week and I happened across a preacher talking on the command “Thous Shalt Not Steal”. It was pretty interesting as he focused on different ways we steel from others besides the normal… I took  a candy bar from a grocery store when I was 12. He talked about how some steal when they spend time with someone else’s spouse in an inappropriate way. He talked about how we can steal from God but not giving of our tithes or time. We can steal from others their joy or fulfillment when we trash or dump on others.

But one that stood out to me because I see it so often is when he talked about when we steal from work. Not pens and other office supplies though that would apply but when we steal time and money from our employer by being on Facebook, taking long lunch and sneaking back in, or maybe even reading this blog when you are on the clock. We can justify it so easily but it is theft none the less.
