“What will heaven be like?” is a topic I have been pondering more over the last couple years. So when the following came up, I thought I would move it this way. I won’t say it’s the most Biblical answer or not. It is more a relational answer than one filled with Bible verse after Bible verse so take it for what it’s worth.
A friend of mine (Dr. Dave) on another site asked the group…..
“As Christians we are supposed to look forward to Heaven. Getting there is something we should desire, and strive for. Yet, I don’t think most people think much about heaven.
So my question is – what will heaven be like? When it comes time for God to bring you home, what will your new, permanent, home be like?”
Here’s my response……
“I’m not saying I have anything Biblical for this but the last couple years I have wondering if this would not be cool……
We are in the presence of God worshiping. The worship rises up and God breathes it in like incense. The worship brings His great pleasure so He decides to reveal something new about His glory to us. Once this is revealed, we are so marveled at His glory, it starts a whole new round of worship. That worship again is breathed in which brings pleasure to God and He decides to reveal a little more of His glory which brings worship again. Then again and again for eternity. Some might think that sounds boring but there’s something inside of me that finds it promising.
Another thought I hold onto when it comes to Heaven is this: About 15 years ago, I was DJing a wedding reception. At one point, the music was turned off so the couple could open presents so it was time to just pass some time. An older lady was sitting close to me who was not all that interested in the gifts so we struck up a conversation. She was a wonderful women of faith, stories, and heart. She was not able to walk very well. She had a cain and great difficulty with movement. At one point in her talk, she was talking about in heaven she would not have these struggles anymore. She would be able to run again. She and I made a date that someday in heaven we would race each other across a field. I don’t know if there is fields in heaven. Not sure if there will be a desire to race but I love the connection we made and the image of it. Maybe God will let us just for old times sake.”
What about you? What do you think heaven will be like?
