I am excited! The weather is warming up, the sun has reappeared, and I get to be barefoot more often!
Most of my life, I hated to be without shoes and socks. However, in recent years, I have discovered the joys of being barefoot and today I decided to partake of this minor experiment of freedom! I love the feel of the carpet under my feet, the coolness of the air that bring refreshment to my whole body, and just the sense of enjoyment of not being confined.
However, it’s not all fun and games. When I woke up, it was raining and the ground outside was wet and muddy. I noticed that the gravel in my driveway did not look inviting as I headed for the car. As I got out of my car for lunch, there was a huge puddle that I almost drowned my foot in by accident. I’m not even getting into the wreck of the bottom of my jeans when they drag in all this due to no heel being in place. A pair of jeans should be treated with more respect.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not whining. A matter of fact I cheated and used flip-flops when I was out and about but it did make me pretty mindful about this….. What would it be like to have no shoes?
That is the point of a special day going on today called “One Day Without Shoes” from Tom’s Shoes. Tom’s is a ministry that gets shoes for people in need both in the States and abroad. They invite people to go with out shoes for a period of time to know what it is like not to have the option of shoes.
Have you ever thought about it? Working in the fields without boots? Running down the street without tennis shoes? Taking a trip by foot through snow, rain, or garbage without the protecting of a soul?
You can help those who are in need for shoes today! Stop by and check out www.toms.com and learn how you can be of help! Someone will be glad you did!
