If you have not heard of it yet, there’s a great new radio station in the Bellefontaine, Ohio area called Shine FM. If you don’t live in that area, no worries…. you can listen on-line! I suggest you do, this is an awesome station with a great ministry heart and mix of music.
Now, I may be a little bias as I have been on the board of directors the last couple years working with a great team supporting the general manager, Mark Boyer and his vision. Mark is an old friend that I respect and love what he’s doing as well as his heart.
Today is the launch party for the station now that they have been on air for a little while. Mark held an open house at the station from 4pm-6pm and then a concert tonight with the new national band, Royal Tailor.
I went today for the open house to support Mark. In the midst of a busy week, there were other things that need attention but I wanted to be there for him. I also wanted to be there because it was the last event for me as a board member (for now).
Now that the station has launched, I find that my role is over. The board needs to focus on the community they serve and I am not a member of that community. There is a dream to bring that station to the Marion area and if that happens, I would gladly serve again.
The point of this post is to say I was VERY glad I went today. It started out a little slow like all open houses do but in just a little time, the place was packed!
There were some highlights….
– I got to meet Kevin Malarkey, the author of the best selling book “The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven”. He is a friend of Mark’s as well and was a joy to talk to. He is very down to earth and appears to be the real deal.Great to meet his kids too.
– I got to meet the lead singer for Royal Tailor who just got done touring with Casting Crowns and again, very cool guy and level headed. Glad it worked out for them to do a show tonight even if I’m not there.
– I met with the young lady who is the promotions woman at the station and was very impressed. Also, met a couple getting ready to do a marriage show on the station who were a blast as well as a young woman hoping to get hired as a DJ that would be an awesome addition. Very encouraging….
However, I saved the best for last….
It was SOOOOOOOO awesome to see a ton of people who have captured the vision and excitement of the vision of Shine FM. People supporting the vision with their finances, excitement, prayers and encouragement. Then in the mix of it, be able to watch Mark and his family seeing it all come alive.
It all starts with God laying a vision on one person’s heart. Everything that is of value in the kingdom starts this way. You have to go through years of faith steps sometimes before you ever see it come together.
In this case, I had the privilege of being there towards the beginning when it was a dream and paperwork so to see it alive and well was a HUGE blessing.
It was bitter sweet but I know Mark and Shine FM are right where they need to be and God will bless them and the community God has called them to. May God keep his hand on you and bless you, Shine FM and the Boyer family! Thank you for letting me take part for my season……
